Oliver, Tomislav 




Tomislav Oliver (Zagreb, 1987) graduated in musicology (2009) under the mentorship of Berislav Šipuš and composition (2011) in class of academician Marko Ruždjak. He continued his studies in the class of Stephan Winkler on Mozarteum, Salzburg (2015). He received a scholarship from the Rotary Club Zagreb, and in 2010 he won a scholarship from the Croatian Composers Society “Rudolf and Margita Matz” Foundation for young composers. In 2012 he recieved the "Stjepan Sulek Award" of Croatian Composers Society for his piece Obsidienne. In 2015 he recieved „Josip Štolcer Slavenski Award“ for his chamber ballet Complex Poetry.

In 2013 his piece Vacanas for mezzosoprano and orchestra was commissioned by 27th Music Biennale Zagreb festival, and was premiered by Zagreb Philharmonic with mezzosopranist Ivana Srbljan, conducted by maestro Luca Pfaff and in 2015 Complex Poetry ballet suite for chamber orchestra was commissioned by 28th Music Biennale Zagreb festival (for ballet diptych Kings of gods, choreographed by Pascal Christophe Touzeau), Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb. He has composed a number of works for solo instruments, chamber ensembles, choirs, instruments with electronics, and for orchestra. His works have been commissioned and performed by renowned Croatian musicians, as well as musicians abroad. From 2011 he works as a teaching assistant at the Department of Composition and Music theory on Music academy in Zagreb.
