Biography

Andrés Maupoint was born in Santiago of Chile, in 1968. He studied piano and
composition, with professors Fernando Cortés and Cirilo Vila, at the Faculty of Arts at
Universidad de Chile; made studies of composition at the conservatories of music of Lyon
and Paris; and pursued a post graduate course and a magister degree in composition with
professor Dimitri Terzakis in Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn
Bartholdy”, Leipzig, Germany. During his carrer, he has been awarded nacionally and
internacionally in the branch of composition, like: Sociedad Chilena del Derecho de Autor
(Chile) ; Olivier Messiaen (Germany), Tarragona City (Spain); MDR Radio Leipzig,
(Germany); Saarbrücken Radio Symphony Orchestra Award, (Germany). As pianist and
composer, he has participated in concerts, recordings and Cds editions; his plays have been
published by Casa Ricordi and Edition Gravis. Since 2008, he is professor of composition
in the Faculty of Arts at Universidad de Chile, where he also conducts an ensamble of
academics, and teaches in the Hochschule für Musik und Theater of Leipzig.
