Biography

Alexandre Lunsqui (1969) was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He studied at the University of Campinas, University of Iowa, Columbia University, and IRCAM. His music has been performed widely by ensembles such as the New York New Music Ensemble, Ensemble Cairn, New York Philharmonic, Nieuw Ensemble, Arditti Quartet, Argento, Talea, L'Arsenale, Loadbang, etc. Lunsqui has received awards from Funarte, Ministry of Culture of Brazil, Radio France, Harvard Fromm Music Foundation, and Koussevitzky Foundation, among others. He has been composer-in-residence for the Chelsea Music Festival and a Civitella Ranieri fellow, Italy. Since 2010, Lunsqui has been Professor in Composition and Theory at the Sao Paulo State University (Unesp).
