  • Please describe your organization’s activities over the past year, including concerts, commissions, collaborations, publications: 

    ISCM Latvia has a productive 2017 year. ISCM Latvia first delegate Anna Veismane attended General Assembly and ISCM World Music Days in Vancouver. During the visit she made several interviews about the festival – with artistic director David Pay and artistic director of upcoming ISCM World Music Days 2019 in Estonia – Mart Matis Lill.     Exhaustive article was written in Latvian music magazine ‘Music Sun’ (Mūzikas saule) about the festival in Vancouver and ISCM structure, history and goals in general.
    For the 2017 World Music Days in Vancouver, work of latvian composer Gundega Šmite Mercurioum for piano solo was selected and played by canadian pianist Rachel Iwaasa.
    In November a Call for Works was launched in order to compile a submission for the Call for Works for the 2018 Beijing World Music Days. The jury consisted of three member as written in statutes - Rolands Kronlaks (composer), Artūrs Gailis (conductor, performer) and Ilze Medne (musicologist).
    To enable of selected composer Andris Dzenītis to attend the World Music Days 2018 and the performance of his piece Trataka. Point Noir for string quartet, a travel grant from the Latvian State Culture Capital Foundation (SCCF) was applied for and granted as well as travel grant for first delegate of ISCM Latvia Anna Veismane.
    All these news were widely covered by Latvian media, including Latvian Radio, newspapers and highlighted the importance and actuality of the ISCM organization.
